Hay and Crops

CS Farm is proud to bring high quality hay to customers and their barns.

Hay

My hay crop is always made available to my current shoeing customers first. I frequently broker hay for my customers. On a normal year, I have plenty to go around or I can find hay for you.

Every year CS Farms produces over 100 Acres of top quality Hay.
We also broker hay throughout the Carolinas and Virginia. We are currently featuring:

  • Tall Fescue
  • Orchard Grass
  • Alfala
  • Mixed Hay
Square Bales and 4 x 5 Round Rolls will be available late May throughout the season.
Square bales are pre-order only.

Please inquire about hay by e-mail. Due to high demand, I can not accurately discuss hay business on the phone while I am working.

Guide to Volume of Hay in a Bale

This is not my prices for hay. I am doing this because I have folks think that a 5 ft roll is worth only $2 more than a 4 ft roll. This puts it into unbiased prospective.
I have used the same formula to calculate this chart as is used to calculate cubic feet in a grain bin. This gives you a guide to compare the volume of hay in square bales versus round rolls. It is only accurate if the density is similar in the bales.

I have used the measurements of 16 inches by 18 inches by 36 inches for the square bale at a value of $3 per bale.

4W by 4H = 8.57 square bales/$25.71
5W by 4H = 10.72 square bales/$32.16
4W by 5H = 13.34 square bales/$40.02
5W by 5H = 16.68 square bales/$50.04
6W by 5H = 20.02 square bales/$60.06
5W by 6H = 24.09 square bales/$72.27
6W by 6H = 28.89 square bales/$86.67

Make wise decisions in buying or marketing your hay. Feed is the #1 expense in raising livestock.
